3rd Tour de Donut huge sucess

For the past 3 years, the Saturday after Labor day The Tour de Donut bicycle "race" is held at Brumbaugh fruit farm in Arcanum.

This year just shy of 500 cyclists of all shapes sizes and experience levels took to the 30 mile route. While on the course riders could stop at Bears Mill and Pitsburg park for donuts. For every donut eaten during the ride five minutes is deducted from the riders finish time. This years event attacted riders from 11 states and a huge local number of participants. The most donuts eaten this year was 21 by Brian Fialkowski of Cleveland. His total is 4 donuts shy of last years champion and all time record holder, professional competative eater Steve Meinke of Chicago, who could only eat 18 this year. In total 220 dozen donuts were eaten during the "race".

The event receives no local sponsorship, yet has doubled in size each of the last three years. All money raised at the event is used to promote cycling as a healthy lifestyle and support the Colavita Ohio cycling clubs bicycle rodeo and childrens helmet give-away. www.colavitaohiocycling.com

  1. It is a shame Darke county doesn't have any of the rail-trail bike routes so this race could be held on safer trails. When you put 400 plus bicycles on the roads that are being used by the motoring public it can become very dangerous.
