Applications being accepted for county EMA director

The Darke County Commisioners will be accepting applications through Monday, October 5th for the open position of Homeland Security/Emergency Management director.

The job is full-time and the director is:

Responsible for carrying out options and planning of the Darke County Homeland Security/Emergency Management Agency and Local Emergency Planning Committee based on an all-hazard disaster approach, natural or man-made. Develop and implement emergency preparedness programs and activities, maintain Darke County Emergency Operations Plan and County Mitigation Plan, maintain inventory of resources to be utilized during emergencies, advises Commissioners on issues concerning emergency preparedness. The overall goal of this position is to save lives and protect property by developing programs and emergency operational capabilities that mitigate, prepare for, respond to and recover from any emergency or disaster.

Compensation comes from the county and grants. An aggregate salary was not readily available. Qualifications include: a bachelor degree, or equivalent experience; good oral and written communication skills; knowledge of MS Word and general accounting practices; and a valid Ohio drivers license.
