Press release - veterans scam

Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey and the Mercer County Veteran’s Office have been notified of a recent scam effecting local Veterans. Local Veterans are being contacted by someone claiming to be from the Patient Care Group offering to assist Veterans with administering VA prescriptions, then asking for the Veterans credit card numbers. It should be noted that the Veterans Administration never asks for personal financial information over the phone.

Local Veterans are warned to not disclose any personal information or credit card information over the phone. Sheriff Grey stated “Our veterans deserve respect, not to be preyed upon with this or any other type of scam”.

Anyone who has been contacted by someone claiming to be from the Patient Care Group is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 419-586-7724 or the Mercer County Veterans Office at 419-586-3542.
