DarkeJournal poll on Issue 3

Voters in our poll favored Issue 3 by a margin of 64.5% to 35.5%. Yes - it's a very small sample, but if the conservative voters of Darke County are ready to take the plunge into casino gambling, you'd figure the rest of the state would too.

  1. Dear DJ, all I can say is that nowhere in the U.S. has gambling of any kind solved a state's financial/economic crisis. As the old saying goes, be careful what you ask for! GF

  2. I agree with the above poster! If people are voting yes because they love to gamble and want casinos here, fine. But if they are voting yes to solve Ohio's economic problems or to fund the schools, that may be a pipe dream. Does anyone remember when the Ohio Lottery was formed? Wasn't that supposed to solve the school funding problems? Our local schools are aways "in crisis" and always have their hands out for more of our real estate and income tax money, either for operating levies or for building new schools.

  3. I agree with both posters above.I don't gamble and just because it's here won't make me start.Having casinos won't solve all the economic woes we have. But, I do hate seeing bus loads(and I've seen those full bus loads of people)going to neighboring states and spending money that could very well be spent here.

  4. I totally agree with the above posters, if you ask any Lottery official where all the monies are for the schools, they will tell you a flat "I don't know" if you look at the number of people that are working for the Lottery commission you will be able to tell where the monies are going, to them.
I think a Yes vote on all the 3 issues we will be voting on this Nov, is in order.

  6. To 12:33, If you agree with the above posters, why do you think a Yes vote is in order? Did I misunderstand what was said? Maybe a gambling issue without ties to Ohio's constitution!! Why should Ohio sell out and take less monies than other states?
