Cap and Trade is Dead for a Good Reason

Why is President Obama going to Copenhagen?

Although Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS) is dead under the weight of endless flaws, until last week “Cap and Trade” was alive and well – needing only the majority party in the Senate to hammer it through. Then all of a sudden on the way to becoming law, a horrible thing occurred. The truth emerged in the “Gore-ified” exposé of email conversations between rogue scientists whose work is the basis for the global warming hysteria that began at the Climate Research Unit in Britain. The concept (hypothesis) was catapulted to worldwide prominence by the United Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and Al Gore’s movie and book entitled An Inconvenient Truth for which he received the Nobel Prize.

Our comments and quotes are based on a deluge of articles that have appeared in The New York Times, Investors Business Daily, and The Wall Street Journal.

Merely reading the titles, let alone the content, led us to ask, “Why is President Obama wasting time going to the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference of 2009?” Very wisely, China and India (Chindia) who produce almost 60% of the global CO2 emissions, have excused themselves from the discussion based on poverty.

A simple email on the Internet stating that the United States declines the offer to join in mandated solutions to a hypothetical problem based on pseudo-science and potentially fraudulent data should be sufficient. His appearance unfortunately only adds credibility to their flawed and phony works.

With Iraq (where the Europeans were right and we were wrong – no WMDs), Afghanistan, and a collapsing economy, not to mention the 1600 plus homicides on our border at Ciudad, Juarez due to narco-terrorism, the President’s working calendar is already dangerously overloaded. The significance of the narco-terrorism in Juarez should be readily apparent to the President since its trade route through El Paso leads directly to Chicago where hundreds die of heroin over-dosages. The importance of nuclear weapons in the hands of Ahmadinejad of Iran and Kim Jong of North Korea and elsewhere has yet to be considered. Depending on perspective, these alone are consuming issues, especially when one considers Israel and the Palestinians. In view of this sampling of serious issues requiring the President’s full attention, Obama has no business attending the Copenhagen Conference Climate Change Conference on December 9, 2009.

Of course declining to attend would be rude considering President Obama just received the Nobel Prize. Interestingly, since his current accomplishments do not justify such an award, it has been assumed that his selection was based on prospective deeds. Receiving the award under these circumstances was quite an accomplishment, somewhat akin to winning the Heisman trophy before the season begins.

  1. I did not vote for obama, but after he took office I was willing to keep an open mind, allow him to do the job, and see where we went as a country. I'd start to make my decision on him after a year in office. Well, it's been nearly a year and I can say with confidence that I am not at all impressed with him as our president and "world leader". So far, he has really been all talk, very little action and way too much spending with little visible results. It will be interesting to see where we are 3 years from now.

  2. I hope everyone that voted for Obama, feels like a real dumbass now.

  3. yeah, because everyone who voted for Obama only did so because of his stance on global warming.

Also, a subset of scientists e-mails showing conspiracy does not disprove the work of hundreds.

I don't necessarily buy into the who climate change emergency thing, but it's far from debunked or proven false.

  4. The purpose of our comment was not to undermine the President's image or morale but to get him to focus on more serious at-home issues.

  5. Global warming has never been proven in the first place. The earth has cooled for the last several years, which is what led to the shift in terminology to "climate change." Many of the proponents of "global warming" and "climate change" are the same ones who claimed the earth was in danger from "global cooling" in the 1970's.

I would agree that the emails, in and of itself, would not mean a lot ... except for the fact that all the global warming/climate change arguments were built upon nothing to begin with.

  6. So C Reier, did you send a copy to him or do you think he reads the Darke Journal??

  7. The conference may be about the environment, but do you really think that the environment will be the only topic that is discussed "after hours" at dinners and the like?

In case you didn't know, the president is trying to convince the German and French governments to commit more troops to Afghanistan... Did you contemplate that attending such events gives a lot of face to face time with fellow leads which lends its self well to ulterior agendas...?

Yes, we have contacted one of Darke County's strongest supporters, John Boehner(R) and also Sen. Inhofe of Oklahoma as well as Voinovich, Brown and a host of others in Washington. Who have you contacted?

  9. Maybe the President should just contact Mr. Reier to see what he should from now on.

  10. Actually CCS is not dead anywhere but Darke County and the state of Florida it is still being considered in Ohio and is being used in Texas, it is being injected into old Oil wells so as to get the remaining oil out of them so you can continue to drive your gas hogs in comfort.
