Versailles' Danielle Williams, MVCTC Graphic Arts Student Wins Gold Key Award


Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) Graphic Art senior Danielle Williams from Versailles has won a GOLD KEY award for her eight-piece portfolio submitted to the 2010 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Winners of this regional award submitted artwork that demonstrated the highest levels of achievement in originality, technique, and personal vision. Danielle’s portfolio is now in the running for the national award, her work will be reviewed by nationally and internationally renowned artists to select approximately 1,000 awards on the national level. The top six national winners will receive $10,000 scholarship awards and have their work selected for inclusion in the National Student Art Exhibition in New York.

MVCTC is the career technical school for Ansonia, Arcanum, Franklin-Monroe, Mississinawa Valley, Tri-Village, and Versailles schools. Students in the MVCTC Graphic Commercial Art program learn to create artwork for advertising agencies, newspapers, magazines, books, billboards, and packages. In this field, artists develop ideas, prepare sketches, choose color and lettering, draw finished artwork, and produce camera-ready art electronically through graphic computer programs. MVCTC Graphic Commercial Art program is a Tech Prep program, which means students meeting all requirements may be eligible to earn up to 15 college credits to Sinclair Community College after successfully completing the program. MVCTC Graphic Commercial Art program has recently had graduating classes earn over $200,000 in college scholarships.
