God's Stop Sign

Sometimes life just goes too fast! How did it become February 6th, 2010 already!! My family, work and writing projects keep me so busy that sometimes I forget to breath. I often tease my children that I have "hyper-brain syndrome". Of course they think that is a bonafide diagnosis. I rarely slow this brain of mine down. Sometime though, God has a way of taking the reigns and saying "whoa... girl". I LOVE being snowed in! It is like winning the lottery for me. I get "free day" A day to cuddle up with my kids, relax with a movie or book, or just write for the fun of it. It is blissful. I love looking outside at God's handiwork where I can tell he raised the big old "stop sign" just for me!

On this blissfully beautiful day just STOP, breath, and take in the wonder. Do something to relax and reflect just how lucky we are to be alive in this magical world of ours.

Please, just enjoy God's proverbial stop sign, even if just for today.

  2. Yes, God controls the weather. He also controls how long we live on this earth and what happens after we die. He sees so much more than this world and the present. Thank goodness there is much more to life than what you and I, who are bound by time and space, can see. So I intend to do just as Dr. Bowlin says and use every moment I have left, including this day of being snowed in, to its fullest!

  7. It’s sad that people need to make mean or sarcastic comments on such a nice story. My job requires me to be out no matter how bad the weather. Still, it's nice to know that a great number of families were able spend time at home together.

    Many of us have hectic, busy lives. For some of us it's even more hectic and busy when it's slowing down for everyone else. But the point is well made. Find time to stop and switch from a "human doing" to a "human being" for a few moments. Take a breath and no matter how bad things are, think of something for which you're thankful. Take another breath and appreciate some form of art, such as a book, music, or nature.

    Taking moments for ourselves makes for happier, healthier lives. And when the green light inevitably comes, we'll be more productive and able to better care for the important people in our lives.
