Beware of telephone bank scam

From the Darke County Sheriff: We have been receiving multiple reports of telephone scams this evening, most of which are automated recordings stating they are from Greenville National Bank. It is important that when you get these scams calls or any scam call, not to release any of your personal information. There is no need to contact the Sheriff's Office, unless you have given out personal information. [via DCSO facebook page]

  3. There's nothing to be done about this except awareness. They're not going to be from this country and it's random. 5470000, 5470001, 5470002; until they get lucky.

  6. That last number is from a cell phone in Anaheim, CA.

  7. Caller ID is great. I don't answer any calls that I don't recognize the number. Caller ID is well worth the extra money it costs.

  8. we keep getting calls to our cell phones that come through as 888-8 or 999-9.

    They always hang up however. We assume it's part of this, but meh. annoying is all.

  9. I just got this call earlier today on my cell phone around noon from (949) 954-7953. Really annoying.. Anyone know why this is even happening?

  10. It's not coming from any of these places. It's an out of country thing and they are able to put whatever phone number they want in the caller ID.
