42nd Annual Bazaar Scheduled

Preparations are underway for the 42nd Annual Bazaar set for November 6, 2010. Brethren Retirement Community Auxiliary is sponsoring the event to be held at 750 Chestnut Street in the Brick Room. Doors will open at 9:30 am and close at 2:00. A homemade soup and sandwich lunch will be served from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm in the Staff Cafeteria.

The Bazaar will highlight baked goods and crafts by auxiliary members from participating Churches of the Brethren. The Auxiliary bakers are busy preparing homemade pies, angel food cakes, candies and other tasty treats. Home-baked apple dumplings and cinnamon rolls will be showcased. Pecan pies by Ron will be available along with mincemeat, gooseberry and other favorites. Items will be ready for use or to freeze for the holidays.

Hot spice cider and frozen cider slushies will tempt your taste buds made with cider from Downing’s Fruit Farm. Crafty members will offer crocheted and knitted Afghans, dishcloths and Christmas crafts ideal for gift giving. Various church cookbooks will be available. Nine craft vendors will be onsite with displays of painted rocks, country crafts, knitted scarves and blankets, wood carved toys and ornaments, Wishing Well Salad Dressings, almonized peanuts, crocheted and loomed rugs, homemade teddy bears, Cindy’s biscotti and mixes and much more. “The Flour Barrell” will feature dried fruits, nuts, candy and various bulk items.

Used books will be offered for sale by Brethren Retirement Community Library to benefit the resident library. They will have a large selection of hard back and paperback books. The fourteen hundred square foot Café and Gifts on Main will be open with Christmas displays abounding. They feature a unique holiday shopping experience.

The public is invited to attend this annual fall event and celebrate with Brethren Retirement Community Auxiliary. Proceeds from the Bazaar are used to purchase various items to enhance the retirement experience for the residents. Contract Janet Ashworth, Coordinator of Volunteers for questions at 547-7682.
