BLUE STAR MOTHERS TROOP DRIVE

The VFW Post 4161, 311 S. Albright, Arcanum, American Legion Post 140, 325 North Ohio Street, Greenville, VFW Post 4235 173 N. High Street, Covington, and Country Lane Treasures, 4790 Grubbs-Rex Road, Arcanum, OH are hosting a Troop Donation Drive for the Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc. (BSM), Miami Valley Chapter # 3. These posts are hosting a donation drop off from Sunday, October 1, 2010 through November 11, 2010.

Items are being collected to send to deployed troops for the Christmas holiday. They are hoping to send approximately 2000 Christmas stockings as well as goodie boxes to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Items needed are: Chap stick, Lifesavers and mints, Pop-top cans of fruit, Sealed packages of tuna, Thermal underwear (any size and color), Beef jerky and Slim Jim’s, Powdered drink mixes (individual packages), Granola bars, Individual packages of hot cider and hot chocolate, Comedy DVD’s, Holiday music Cd’s, Disposable razors, Black socks, And of course, Christmas stockings.

Barrels will be placed at each location for the collection of items. Monetary donations may also be made. Checks should be made out to “BSM #3.”

The Blue Star Mothers is a national 501c(3), non-profit organization that has existed since World War II. The Miami Valley Blue Star Mothers Chapter #3 was chartered in 2004.
