Farley running for Clerk of Courts in March

Farley
Amanda Farley of Hollansburg has announced her plans to run for Darke County Clerk of Courts. She will be challenging the current clerk on the Republican ballot on March 6th.

A graduate of Tri-Village, Farley went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Indiana University. While attending school, Farley had an opportunity to experience various parts of our court system through job shadowing at the probation department, the prosecutor’s office, and the sheriff’s office. She also interned with the Darke County Sheriff’s Office for five months last year. She believes that her experience has given her a very good understanding of how valuable each department is to the others and how important it is that they all communicate and work together.

Farley says that when she considered the possibility of running for clerk or courts, she did her homework first. “I researched the specifics of the job so that I understood exactly what would be expected of me, and I am very confident that I have what it takes to do the job and do it well,” she said. “I am a multitasker and I like to stay busy. I balanced work, school, an internship, and my family at the same time, and I am very proud of that. I believe that if you’re going to do something you should give it your all. This job would be no different.”

One concern that Farley addressed about her opponent is that she is the county chairperson for the Republican Party. “I feel that is a conflict of interest. Once elected, it is important that our officials represent the interests of everyone in the county and party issues should be kept separate from the office.”

Farley says that she loves it here in Darke County and wants to raise her family here. She believes that it is time for more people from her generation to get involved and take an active role in what is going on in our community, and working at the courthouse is a perfect fit for her. She has wanted to work at the courthouse since she was a teenager, and feels that now is the time to pursue that goal.
