Free tax preparation at CAP

Community Action Partnership, in partnership with The Ohio Benefit Bank, is pleased to announce free tax preparation service to the public. Through the program, employees at the CAP office in Darke County are now ready to assist seniors 60+ and low- and moderate-income individuals and families file for tax credits and benefits for which they are eligible at no cost. Households with Adjusted Gross incomes (AGIs) less than $60,000 may file their 2011 taxes for free with The Ohio Benefit Bank at CAP. Clients can e-File for refunds in as few as seven days or opt to have a print-out to mail on their own. Direct-deposit service to savings or checking accounts is also available. Melissa Sparks, assistant director at CAP, stated, “We are trying to help people save money this tax season and ensure they receive all eligible tax credits, and we are pleased to be able to offer this free service.” In addition, Saturday Tax Clinics will be offered on Feb. 4th and Feb. 18th from 9am to 1pm. All tax services will be served by appointment only. For more details, call the CAP office at 937-548-8143 beginning the week of Jan. 23 to schedule an appointment.

The Ohio Benefit Bank is a free service that simplifies the tax filing process and is available for use in social service agencies, faith-based institutions, community organizations and private employer sites.
