Local Fire Departments Awarded FEMA Grants

Thanks to DarkeJournal.com reader Tim Reser who tipped us on the recent announcement that a few local fire departments have been awarded grants as part of the FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant program. The awards are:

Greenville City Fire Department........................................$339,750
Liberty Township Fire/Rescue.............................................$36,219
New Madison Community Volunteer Fire Company Inc........$201,875

Per FEMA's website, the AFG's goal is...
...to meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and nonaffiliated emergency medical service organizations. Since 2001, AFG has helped firefighters and other first responders to obtain critically needed equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles, training, and other resources needed to protect the public and emergency personnel from fire and related hazards.
Congratulations to those involved. You can find out more about the program by clicking here.
