CareFlight Called to Accident Near New Madison

New Madison - On March 21, 2013 at 11:55 a.m. Darke County deputies, along with Hollansburg Fire and Tri-Village Rescue, were dispatched to the 900 blk. of Rush Rd. in reference to a single vehicle accident into a pole.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by Shannon Riley (38) of Arcanum, was eastbound on Rush Rd. when her vehicle went off the left side of the roadway and struck a utility pole. Riley's vehicle then overturned and came to final rest in a field.

Riley was trapped in her vehicle and was extricated from the vehicle by Hollansbrug Fire. Additional assistance was requested from New Madison Fire Dept. Riley was treated by Tri-Village Rescue and was transported by Care Flight to Miami Valley Hospital. Riley's condition is unknown at this time.

Witness at the scene reported that possibly a deer had ran in front of Riley's vehicle causing her to swerve and go off the road. At this time the accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff's Office.
