The third annual Keith LaFountain II Poker Run held in Rockford in August has raised $2,400 for State of the Heart Hospice. This brings the total raised over three years to nearly $6,000. The annual event is coordinated by Yvonne and Roger Patch and is held in memory of their son Keith who died in a work-related accident in 2010.

“We deeply appreciate the efforts made by Yvonne and her family in putting together this successful Poker Run,” stated Ryan Gathard, Fund Development Director for State of the Heart. “Each year, the family has handled all of the details involved in putting this fund raiser together to benefit our agency. I admire their hard work and commitment to our agency.”

The funds will go to support the nonprofit agency’s annual Camp BEARable which is a camp for grieving children. The camp will be held July 11-13 at the Spiritual Center at Maria Stein. Sixty-four youth attended the camp this year. There is no cost to attend camp, and it is open to any child ages six to 15 that needs help dealing with grief and loss.

State of the Heart Hospice, with offices in Coldwater, Greenville and Portland, cares for patients and families in eastern Indiana and western Ohio who are confronting a life limiting illness.
