Versailles area Museum News

Museum Promises All Treats, No Tricks!
Trick or Treat will be here before you know it (Sunday October 26th from 2:00 – 4:00) and the Versailles area Museum will be open that day for our normal hours. But in the spirit of the season we will be offering treats to all the little goblins that drop by on their route through the village in search of candy.

Museum to Host “Last Monday”
On October 27th we will have our last, “Last Monday of 2014. We invite our senior friends to join us as we will discuss paranormal activity in Darke County and enjoy several stories from Rita Arnold’s books (on sale in our Gift Shop) about the ghost stories around Darke County. Also you’ll have a chance to share your stories about how you celebrated Halloween over the years.

After the program there will be time to enjoy the displays around the Museum. The Art Show, Travel display, and the Sweet Shop displays will be leaving the first week in November to make way for the Christmas season, coming November 14th with a special preview during the “Hometown Christmas Celebration”. So call your friends and invite them to this special afternoon.

Each afternoon ends with a delicious homemade dessert and coffee or punch (and of course we appreciate your generous donations to keep these programs coming).

So mark your calendars for October 27th at 1:00 p.m. and join us at the Museum for an afternoon of bewitching tales and Halloween treats!

Museum Looking for Items for Christmas
Your hometown museum is looking for Victorian era decorations for our tree and display as well as any items that show home life before 1910. Also fresh pine, holly and other fresh seasonal greenery are needed on or before November 10th to help prepare for the holidays. We also are looking for toys from the 40’s & 50’s to put in our mercantile story. If you remember Toy Land at Martin’s, you have an idea of what we are looking for. We are also looking for Post Office history, artifacts, and pictures to tell the special story of the Post Office in our communities. Hope you can help. You may contact us and leave a message at the museum at 526-4222 or Facebook us!
