Reid has launched a new health system web site that has a focus on wellness and offers a simpler, “responsive” design.

“Our goal was to provide a resource that still contains extensive information about our system, but with a look and feel that is better organized and more adaptable,” said Larry Price, Reid Director of Community Relations. Price noted that the site is set up in a responsive design, which means it adjusts content to fit a personal computer, tablet or smart phone.

“We will also continue to add resources that promote and provide for community health and wellness,” he said. The web system also allows content to be customized for the user depending on whether the person using the site identifies themselves as a visitor, patient or physician. “As a growing regional health system, we know that the amount of information we need to provide on multiple health services can be overwhelming,” Price said. “We provide services that affect people at all stages of life. We have multiple programs and service lines, each with a story to tell. We asked our developers to keep the consumer in mind as they redesigned and reorganized extensive information.”

Besides mobile optimization, the site includes:

  • Dedicated areas for service lines such as orthopedics, heart & vascular and cancer
  • Quick access to the MyReidHealth patient portal, which connects patients with their providers and information, and the “Find a Doctor” search function
  • An increased focus on wellness and the importance of screenings
  • More accessible links to Reid’s social media channels such as Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube and Twitter
  • Improved maps and location information
  • An improved calendar of events
  • Simplified organization
  • Regular news and wellness postings on the home page
  • And more scheduled postings of health and wellness information

The redesigned main hospital site completes a phased project that also included the development and launch of a new site specifically for Reid Physician Associates (RPA): www.ReidDoctors.org. The site includes information about the numerous physician practices and satellite offices in the region.

Price said it was also gratifying for Reid that the web redesign project was handled by a local business -- Irongate Creative, an agency in Hagerstown, IN. “Reid by policy seeks to use local vendors and businesses whenever possible. And they have done a great job for us.”
