Community Volunteer Fair scheduled Aug. 27 on Reid Health campus

More than 20 organizations will be represented in a Community Volunteer Fair from 2 to 6 p.m. Aug. 27 in Reid Health’s Lingle Hall.

The event is sponsored by Reid Health and Rosebud Village. Becky Jewison, Reid Health’s Director of Volunteer Services, said the idea grew from something she had been working on and a class project at Indiana University East involving co-workers Whitney Huntington, Jared Dunlap and Ali Blunk.

“My focus was community volunteers and non-profit agencies and their focus was Reid Health employee volunteers,” Jewison said.

Huntington said her group in the IU East Academy for Cultivating Talent had the idea for a volunteer fair as a way to connect Reid employees with organizations. “Our group came up with the idea to have a volunteer fair as Reid empowers their employees to volunteer their time to organizations We knew employees enjoy giving back to their communities however finding the time to connect with volunteer organizations can be difficult. We then thought what better way to get them connected with organizations than to bring them here?”

Jewison said: “It just seemed that if we could get many of the non-profit organizations together at once it would allow interested volunteers to do some ‘one-stop shopping’. And it always helps for organizations to talk with each other and promote each other’s needs.”
