Motorcycle and Tractor Collide, One Airlifted

On August 1, 2015 at approximately 5:27 pm Darke County Deputies along with Ansonia Rescue, North Star Fire and CareFlight, responded to an injury crash involving a motorcycle and tractor at the intersection of State Route 705 & Whiterd Road. Preliminary investigation revealed a 2014 Orange/Black Harley Davidson Road King operated by Robin Webster 54, New Bremen and passenger Amy Webster 46, New Bremen were traveling Eastbound on State Route 705 and attempted to pass a Blue New Holland tractor pulling a manure spreader operated by Jerome Otte 57, Maria Stein as the tractor slowed down and was attempting to make a left turn onto Whiterd Road. The motorcycle struck the front left tire of the tractor ejecting both occupants of the motorcycle. Mr. Webster was not wearing a helmet, and was flown to Miami Valley Hospital aboard CareFlight, and his wife was wearing a helmet and was taken to Coldwater hospital. The operator of the tractor, Mr. Otte was not injured. The Darke County Sheriff's Office Accident Reconstruction Team was also on scene to investigate the crash scene. This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff's Office.
