Actors Needed For Dramatic Play

Edison State Community College is putting on an original one-act play titled “Choices” to raise awareness about veteran suicide and domestic violence. A facilitated discussion on these topics will follow the play. Auditions will be held on Monday, September 28 and Tuesday, September 29 at 7 p.m. in room 111 of the Piqua Campus and are open to the public

The dramatic play requires three roles to be filled. The main character, a veteran with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, is the only person on stage. Any veteran ranging from a 65-year-old Vietnam combat veteran to a 24-year-old Afghanistan combat veteran can play the part.

The other two parts will perform off stage and are never seen by the audience: a man and his wife/girlfriend. The ages of these characters can be a man and woman in their twenties or thirties.

Veteran actor Jayson Grigsby is the director and William Loudermilk, Associate Professor of English, will provide the music before and after the play. Combat veteran and professor, Carl DeSantis will facilitate the discussion of the issues following the one-act play.

The performances will be held on November 10 at 12 and 7 p.m. at the Robinson Theater at the Piqua Campus and November 13 at 7:30 at the Mayflower Arts Center in Troy.
