On October 7, 2015 at approximately 12:04 PM Darke County Deputies along with Arcanum Rescue, Greenville Rescue, Arcanum Fire, Pitsburg Fire, Phillipsburg Fire and CareFlight responded to the 3700 block of State Route 49 in reference to a head on collision involving a semi tractor/trailer and a car.
Preliminary investigation revealed a gold 2002 Chevrolet Impala driven by Joshua E. Zennie, 19, Dayton, Ohio was traveling northbound on State Route 49 crossed the centerline entering into the southbound lane of travel. Zennie’s vehicle was struck head on by a white 2015 Freightliner, driven by William Moore, 56 of Muskegon, Michigan.
Joshua Zennie was extricated from the vehicle by rescue personnel and airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital where he remains in critical condition. William Moore was treated and released at the scene.
The Darke County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction team was also called to the scene for further investigation.
This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
