Dutch Oven Cooking for November Jr. Naturalists

Stews featured heavily in historical diets because
they are easy to prepare and keep going.
Darke County Parks Naturalist, Hannah Linebaugh, invites students in grades 3-6 to join her for the November Jr. Naturalists program on Saturday, November 21st from 9:30am to 12:00pm at Shawnee Prairie Preserve on St. Rt. 502 west of Greenville. The Jr. Naturalists program is a series of monthly programs designed to give students a hands-on introduction to natural resource management. Hikes, work projects, and independent study are all part of this fun-filled nature study club. The November program will feature campfire cooking. Students will discover a culinary world much wider than just hotdogs prepared over an open fire. Students should come hungry and ready to cook the way our ancestors did. A fee of $3 is charged for the program, and preregistration is required.

For any questions about the Jr. Naturalists program or any other Park District programs or to register for the November class, please call 548-0165 or email Hannah Linebaugh at
