MVCTC Teachers Receive Ohio Master Teacher Recognition

MVCTC is proud to announce that over the last six years, 36 instructors have been recognized as State of Ohio Master Teachers. Englewood, Ohio – The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) is proud to announce that over the last six years, 36 instructors have been recognized as State of Ohio Master Teachers. The following teachers received their Master Teacher for 2016-2021:

  • Mrs. Jacqueline Barnes, Math Instructor
  • Mrs. Jeannine Geise, English Instructor
  • Mr. Andrew Knall, Math Instructor (Youth Connections)

In addition, the following five (5) instructors renewed their Master Teacher for 2017-2022:

  • Mrs. Jayme Boston, PLTW Instructor at Northmont Satellite
  • Mrs. Jacqueline Dolan, English Instructor
  • Mr. Jared McLear, Science Instructor
  • Mr. David Sanford, English/Social Studies Instructor
  • Mrs. Paula Wathen, Med Lab Instructor

In order to be eligible for the Master Teacher designation, educators must hold a valid professional license or certificate, have taught a minimum of seven years, and show evidence of each of the following criteria as described in the Ohio Standards for the Teaching Profession (http://esb.ode.state.oh.us ). Master Teachers will achieve exemplary scores in four of five areas on the scoring guide, including consistent leadership, focused collaboration, distinguished teaching - focus on students and environment, distinguished teaching - focus on content, instruction and assessment, and continued professional growth.

The Ohio Department of Education describes the Master Teacher program as, “a way to recognize and honor teachers who go above and beyond district expectations. It creates a resource of teacher leaders to advance the profession and encourages high quality teachers to remain in the classroom.”
