David McKibben and Lisa Glover to Perform Broadway Showstoppers with the Greenville Municipal Concert Band

The Greenville Municipal Concert Band will continue the Summer Concerts in the Park this Sunday, August 7th at 7pm at the Marling Band Shell in the beautiful Greenville City Park. This week the GMCB will present a concert showcasing great music from Broadway. It has been long understood that some of the greatest music has come via Broadway productions throughout the years. This week we will explore some of those Broadway Showstoppers.

Our featured performers this week are David McKibben and Lisa Glover. David and Lisa are two shining stars in the Dayton performing arts world. David McKibben, a yearly performer with the band is currently directing the production of Little Shop of Horrors to be presented by Dare 2 Defy Theater Company . Lisa Glover, a Dayton native and a student at Wright State University, is starring in the lead role of Audrey in the same musical. Their performance of Little Shop of Horrors will be presented at the Victoria Theater in Dayton, Ohio on September 2nd and 3rd. Winners of multiple Day Tony Awards for outstanding contributions to musical theatre productions in the Dayton area, David and Lisa will perform with the GMCB excerpts from Phantom of the Opera and the classic Somewhere from West Side Story. David will also perform Bring Him Home from Les Miserables and Lisa will also sing the great aria I Dreamed a Dream also from Les Miserables.

The GMCB will perform a tribute to the music of Marvin Hamlisch. Marvin Hamlisch was one of Broadway’s greatest composers. He was the recipient of three Oscars, four Grammys, four Emmy’s, a Tony and three Golden Globes. Sadly, the music of Marvin Hamlisch stopped in 2012 and the band would like to pay a musical tribute to this great talent. Also featured for the evening are marches of Henry Fillmore and the exciting overture Encanto.

Please plan to join us this Sunday, August 7th at 7pm at the Marling Band Shell in the Greenville City Park and invite a friend. We have had tremendous attendance this summer and we thank you. Please note our new start time of 7pm. Seating is available or you may bring your own lawn chair or blanket. As always, our concerts are free and open to the public. See you at the shell.
