Early Voting is Available Now!

I've never voted early in past elections. Partially because I was always plenty available on Election Day (November 8th!), but also because I sort of enjoy the excitement of going to the polling place and casting my vote on Election Day.

This year, though, I am not sure if I will have time to make it to the polling place on Election Day proper, so I took advantage of voting early. To be honest, when it is available, I may never vote on election day ever again.

The Board of Elections has hours available every day (including weekends) until the day before Election Day. All you need to do is bring a valid form of ID/address verification and fill out a short form to confirm your address and other information. They have plenty of signage directing you where to go and helpful folks that will answer any questions you may have.

I wanted to bring this up, since I'm not sure if everyone is aware of how accessible early voting is. I'll put it this way: my wife and I took our 5 and 2 year old along with us on a day and at a time that was convenient for us and were in and out in maybe 10 or 15 minutes. That in and of itself is tremendously more convenient and even much less stressful than going on Election Day and hoping to hit the our polling place at a time when the line is as small as possible.

My advice? Vote early, get it out of the way, and relax with the knowledge that you've done your civic duty while you wait for the results to be announced late on the evening of November 8th.

Click here to visit the Darke County Board of Elections' site, which has tons of information about early voting, most importantly, a list of all the hours they are open to take your vote.
