2017 Fort GreeneVille Chapter Regent Award

Chris Nehring and Debbie Nisonger
Fort GreeneVille Chapter Regent Debbie Nisonger recently awarded Christina Eberst Nehring with the 2017 Fort GreeneVille Chapter Regent Award. Chris is recognized and honored for her extraordinary work in the numerous activities supporting Veterans including the Angels for Veterans - Angel Paws Program. The certificate is awarded each year by the Regent to a chapter member who shows extraordinary dedication to the principles of what DAR stands for.

Chris has been very active with Veterans in Darke County. Being an Air Force Veteran herself, Chris has chaired the local Veteran’s Thank a Vet 5K which has raised over $6,000 to Angels Fort Veterans program, Angel Paws. She has also assisted in raising funds for the Darke County Fairgrounds Veterans Building renovation, participated in local parades, VFW Poppy sales, co-chaired two baby showers for VA Hospital female Veterans among numerous other DAR and VFW Veterans events.

The members of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution have dedicated themselves to the objectives of historical preservation, promotion of education and encouragement of patriotic endeavor. These goals are as relevant in today's society as they were when the organization was founded in 1890. Most of DAR's volunteer work is accomplished by the grassroots efforts of chapters on the local level which focus on the objectives of DAR by encouraging members to become involved in these initiatives in their local communities.
