ODNR to Offer FREE Deer Management Workshop

Wildlife professionals offer class on managing for deer

XENIA, OH- A deer management workshop is being offered to landowners and wildlife enthusiasts that want to manage land and deer successfully. The workshop is sponsored by Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA) Twin Creek Branch and Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.

The workshop will take place on Saturday, March 24, 2018 from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm., at the Miami Valley Career Center, Adult Education Building located at 6801 Hoke Rd., Clayton, OH 45315.

Matt Ross, QDMA Assistant Director of Conservation, will present the keynote on deer movement and home range use. ODNR Deer Program Manager, Mike Tonkovich, will share information on Ohio’s statewide deer management plan. Also on the agenda are open-land habitat management, forest management for deer, aging deer, managing hunting pressure and more.

The workshop is free, and lunch will be provided. Seating is limited, and pre-registration is required. To register call the Wildlife District Five office, M-F 8am-5pm, at 937-372-9261 by March 22, 2018.For further information contact Caleb Shields, Division of Wildlife.
