Thirty couples were present for the Shrine’s annual couple’s night out. After a buffet dinner, Dr. Kuhn presented on how, if we depend on God as our ultimate sources of happiness, we can develop a deeper relationship with our spouse. He used his knowledge of psychology and scripture to help people look at their own actions and how those are perceived by one’s partner.
This enlightening presentation was supplemented by a live illustration from Ed Kuhn, Dr. Kuhn’s brother, using chalk. He drew a couple struggling to carry the cross of life together. At the end of the presentation, this drawing was removed from the pedestal and a drawing of Jesus carrying the cross was exposed. The symbolism reinforced the presentation message that couples are not in this sacrament of marriage alone and we must place our trust in God.
