"Family Involvement" by Laura Bemus, Asst. Superintendent of Greenville City Schools

According to research, a family’s involvement in their child’s education is the single most important factor in school success and achievement. Kindergarten enrollment is April 2, 3, and 4. As we prepare for the beginning of another year of school, here are some ways for families to be involved:

  • Visit the School
  • Attend Open House and Parent-Teacher Conferences
  • Read at home and review homework every day and continue reading during the summer
  • Support good attendance
  • Talk about school
  • Visit the school website to stay informed
  • Chaperone field trips or help in the classroom
  • Attend Waves of Pride, Tuesday, March 19 from 6:30 – 8:00 at Greenville High School
  • Attend Family Reading Night, May 7 from 5:30 – 7:00 at Greenville Elementary School

The school and home partnership are important. For a great beginning and success in school, we encourage parents and families to introduce yourself and get involved. This will make a positive and lifelong impact for our students.
