DCCA presents Pianist Alpin Hong

Alpin Hong, labeled “a pianistic firebrand” by The New York Times, will perform at Henry St. Clair Memorial Hall in Greenville on Saturday, February 5 at 8 p.m. ‘This incredible performer exhibits not only astounding talent but also boundless energy in his shows, winning rave reviews from audiences of all ages,” said Keith Rawlins, Artistic Director of Darke County Center for the Arts. “DCCA feels fortunate to be able to present this young rising star, whose expansive musical training is only enhanced by his diverse accomplishments in skateboarding, martial arts, and videogames,” Rawlins continued.

Alpin Hong’s concert, which will include music by Rachmaninoff, Mozart, Beethoven, and Chopin, is sponsored by Jim and Enid Goubeaux and Second National Bank. DCCA also receives support from Harry D. and Esther Stephens Memorial, Lydia E. Schaurer Memorial Trust Fund, and Ketrow Foundation. In addition, the Ohio Arts Council helps fund Darke County Center for the Arts with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence, and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.

The pianist will also present “Movies to Games, Classically Trained,” a workshop for Junior High students from all local public schools, on February 3 and 4 as part of DCCA’s Arts In Education program. Youngsters will learn how classical composers used musical components to emotionally influence their audiences by examining the music heard on television and in movies and video games.
