The Greenville Rotary Club will meet Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at the Chestnut Village Community Center of the Brethren Retirement Community. Following lunch at Noon, the club will enjoy hearing the program speaker, Jim Anderson from the Automotive Program at Greenville High School. He will share how the program prepares tomorrow’s technicians at the highest possible academic and career standards. Auto students today must not only learn auto repair and maintenance, but also, learn to be problem solvers and life-long learners.
Mr. Anderson believes that project based learning is the strategic pathway to accomplish these goals. The annual auto project, researched and built by the students, develops all of these skills along with team collaboration skills, and communication skills.
Anyone interest in attending or becoming a member of the Greenville Rotary Club may contact the Club President, Rita McCans at rmccans@marykay.com or 937-417-2428. You may also obtain further information on our blog at http://darkecountyview.com/greenvillerotary/.
I was lucky to have Jim Anderson as a teacher in the Automotive program back in the early 90's. He was the greatest teacher I ever had and taught me a great deal, he honestly cared about his students and is willing to go the extra mile to help them improve and to help them get into the automotive field. The Greenville High School was lucky to have him.
ReplyDeleteThanks for helping a knucklehead like me get started in the automotive field Mr Anderson.
