GREENVILLE – A catchy phrase that many in the tourism industry use is, “heads in beds and feet on the street.” It means people sleeping in our hotels, enjoying our shops, attractions and recreation and spending their money in our community.
The focus of the Darke County Visitors Bureau is educating people who are interested in putting their heads in our beds and their feet on our streets. Many marketing tools are used by the bureau to do so, such as the internet, www.VisitDarkeCounty.org, Facebook and Twitter, as well as, more traditional means like The Official Visitors Guide for Darke County.
This travelers’ guide will reflect the new look of tourism in Darke County which captures the legendary spirit of our heritage, recreation and nature areas, and depicts the quality of life found in Darke County. The Official Visitors Guide for Darke County will reach 130,000 potential visitors over the next two years. (Figure based upon number of guides distributed and marketing research.)
In addition, it will fulfill all requests for information about traveling to Darke County including calls to the visitors bureau office, requests through advertising campaigns, at Ohio Welcome Centers, at regional travel shows and at special events. The guide will be distributed through brochure distribution systems in and around Darke County, across the state of Ohio and central and western Indiana, as well as through 1-800-BUCKEYE and DiscoverOhio.com.
The guide offers local businesses a great opportunity to make those visitors coming to our area walk their feet right off the streets into their shops, restaurants and accommodations.
Business owners interested in more information about promoting their business in the guide should call the Darke County Visitors Bureau at (937) 548-5158.
