Jim and Evelyn Shuttleworth and Judge Julie Monnin present the Darke County Veterans with a flag and thank you letter they received from a combat soldier stationed in Afghanistan. The Shuttleworth and Monnin families have been donating items for care packages for the past three years at the organizational direction of Zechar Bailey Funeral Home. These care packages are sent to our soldiers in need of everyday items that many of us take for granted. The flag and thank you letter touched the family so deeply that they wanted to share it with their community. The flag and letter will be displayed in the Darke County Veterans building at the Fairgrounds. “We appreciate the sacrifice and dedication our soldiers have made for us and our country, we wanted to help make a difference for them during their overseas service” says Judge Julie Monnin.
