Americans have embraced dog ownership for centuries, and many people today view their dogs as cherished members of the family. That’s why AKC created Responsible Dog Ownership Days each September – to shine a spotlight on the commitment it takes to have a canine companion! The nationwide initiative educates the public about the importance of being a responsible dog owner and celebrates the deep bond between humans and their canine companions.
Greenville Area Dog Club will be at the Tractor Supply Company (TSC) on Saturday September 8 from 10Am until 4PM. GADC members will be available during the day to answer questions on breeds, training, and general dog ownership issues.
The club will be supplying information on training classes, local and national dog organizations, and will have various items for purchase, including toys, collars, and homemade doggy treats. Proceeds from the purchases will go towards continuing to improve the GADC training facility located in the 5400 block of State Route 49.
GADC members participate in a variety of dog related activities, including obedience, agility, tracking, herding, and many other owner/dog “team sports’. GADC offers training classes to the general public to help in socialization, obedience and manners, and advanced training venues.
If you are thinking about looking for a new puppy or you already have a dog at home, please come out and join our GADC members on Saturday at TSC. You will have the opportunity to meet some recognized and some not so recognized dog breeds and learn a little more about being a responsible dog owner.
