Micaela Wright Earns Award for Keeping Darke County Clean and Green
Recent Arcanum High School graduate Micaela Wright earned the Rumpke Darke County Scholarship for her commitment to environmental stewardship.
“Most people do not think about where their trash goes,” Wright wrote in an essay. “I believe that people should be less wasteful and they need to understand how much trash they are putting into the environment.”
Wright has assisted Adopt-a-Highway program through her 4-H club and volunteers with her church to pick up trash at the Great Darke County Fair. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Academic Team and served as president of Friendly Farmer’s. She plans to attend Wilmington College to major in animal science.
Since 2010, Rumpke has selected one graduating Darke County student for the scholarship each year. Rumpke has operated a trash transfer station and truck depot in Greenville since 1989, with trash, recycling and portable restroom service throughout Darke County and the surrounding area.
