GCS Levy Guest Post - Wes Jetter

This letter is in support of the tax levy which will be on a special August 6, ballot. The levy is being brought before the residents of the Greenville School District to provide funds for facilities construction and renovation.

The need to consolidate, replace, upgrade and, ultimately demolish aging school buildings in the district is obvious. The district is already past the optimum point to do this and years behind other school districts in Darke County and throughout the State of Ohio. Further compelling passage of the bond levy is the high probability that construction costs in the future will be higher and that financing costs (given a significant State match and current, historically low interest rates) will probably never be more favorable.

With a compelling need, favorable construction and financing costs, and a well developed plan, now is the time for the good people of the Greenville School District to move this project forward. If this can be successfully done, it may well be the catalyst to developing a greater sense of community and economic opportunity for all of Darke County.
