Where do blue, red, brown and green dyes naturally come from? How did the pioneers and earlier cultures dye their fabrics? Join the Darke County Parks on Thursday, October 24th at 6:00pm as we create and dye articles of clothing just like they did 200 years ago. We will hit the trails and gather the plant materials we need from around the Nature Center and Log House area. Depending on what the season has provided for us, we’ll take inventory and decide what colors we can produce from what was gathered. We will attempt to create enough dye to hand-dye some of the period-correct clothing that is used by volunteers for the Log House and other cultural programs. Space is limited so sign up, today, for this FREE program by calling the Nature Center at 937.548.0165. This program will occur in the Log House, so please dress for the weather.
