State of the Heart Hires New Communications Specialist
Jessica Winn of Greenville has joined State of the Heart Hospice as a Communications Specialist. She will work from the Greenville office. State of the Heart also has offices in Coldwater and Portland and cares for patients and families in eastern Indiana and western Ohio who are confronting a life limiting illness.
“I was motivated to join State of the Heart because of the compassion and care that is shown each individual, and the positive satisfaction from the patients and families cared for by the agency,” she said.
She has an Associate’s Degree in Applied Business Arts in Advertising from the School of Advertising Arts in Kettering, Ohio. When not working she enjoys spending time with her fiancĂ©, Zach VanVickle, painting, drawing and outdoor activities.
Development Specialist Hired by State of the Heart Hospice
Christy Baker of Greenville has joined State of the Heart Hospice as a Development Specialist and will work out of the agency’s Greenville office. The nonprofit agency also has offices in Coldwater and Portland and cares for patients and families in eastern Indiana and western Ohio who are confronting a life-limiting illness.
“I enjoy working with nonprofit agencies,” stated Baker. “I particularly like working to help an organization like State of the Heart achieve its mission. State of the Heart fits well with my passion of helping people.”
Baker has worked in financial development for over ten years. “I hope that my experience will help further State of the Heart’s outreach to the counties served by the agency.”
When not working, Baker enjoys 5k’s, reading, and spending time with her friends and family including her seven-year-old son, Josh.
St. Marys Resident Hired as RN For State of the Heart Hospice
Heather Bowersock of St. Marys, has been hired as a Primary Registered Nurse by State of the Heart Hospice. She will work from the nonprofit agency’s Coldwater office. State of the Heart also has offices in Greenville and Portland and cares for patients and families in eastern Indiana and western Ohio who are confronting a life limiting illness.
“I am joining State of the Heart Hospice so I can help provide families with resources and support along with encouragement during a time of transition in their lives,” she stated. She has worked in long term care for five years as a social worker, and worked for five years in a hospital as a registered nurse. She and her husband Scott have three children.
Versailles Resident Appointed Lead Admissions Nurse At State of the Heart Hospice
Maggie Knapke of Versailles has been appointed Lead Admissions Nurse at State of the Heart Hospice. She will work from the agency’s Greenville office. The nonprofit agency also has offices in Coldwater and Portland.
“I wanted to work with State of the Heart as I like what hospice work represents,” she stated. “I have a desire to be a part of giving the patient and their loved ones the best quality of life and empathetic care.”
Knapke has prior experience working in long-term care, having daily interactions with hospice patients and their loved ones. When not working, she enjoys walking, and spending time with her husband Brian and their three children.
Celina Resident Joins State of the Heart As Nurse in Greenville Office
Justin McAfee, of Celina, has been hired as a Registered Nurse by State of the Heart Hospice. The nonprofit agency has offices in Coldwater, Greenville and Portland. He will work from the Greenville office.
A Registered Nurse, McAfee has six years of experience as an RN in an ICU, has worked two and a half years as a hospice nurse in Florida, and served as a First Lieutenant RN in the U.S. Army Reserves.
When he is not working, he enjoys boating and scuba diving. He has two children, Caleb and Dakota.
