Mock Disaster to be Held on May 11th

The Darke Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) and Darke County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management Agency will be hosting a Mock Disaster at Continental Carbonic on May 11, 2013 from 9:00 am through 12:00 pm.

This is an annual required exercise that will include a scenario of a hazardous materials release and area evacuations. The Lighthouse Christian Center will be used as the Mock Shelter and also used as the staging area for the exercise.

This exercise will be testing the capabilities and response efforts of county Law, Fire and EMS Agencies, the County HazMat Team and the Darke County Chapter of the American Red Cross. The scenario will be made as realistic as possible, but the public need not be alarmed.

Mindy Saylor, Director of Darke County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management stated, “Exercises develop and enhance the skills of our emergency responders throughout the county and help identify areas that need attention. We appreciate Continental Carbonic partnering with our safety services for this drill.”

The public will not be able to enter the exercise area due to safety and security concerns.

Any questions may be directed to the Darke County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management at 937-548-1444.
