Old National Bank Supports Local Development

Bank newest member of the Partnering for Progress Initiative

Darke County CIC President Jim Poeppelman (L) accepts P4P contribution from Curt Brooks (R) of Old National Bank in Union City, Ohio.
DARKE COUNTY- Old National Bank in Union City has joined Darke County’s Partnering for Progress initiative, becoming the latest member of the county wide economic development effort and the 76th member overall.

“We’re proud to be a part of such a valuable campaign,” stated Curt Brooks of Old National Bank. “The Partnering for Progress initiative seeks to encourage growth and revitalization. That’s clearly something this bank wishes to support in any way that we can.”

The P4P initiative is a collaborative effort between the county economic development office, the Darke County Community Improvement Corporation (CIC), the county commissioners, and dozens of public and private investors across the county. It aims to promote both the expansion of county industry and the development of local tools to support and sustain that growth. Because of these goals, Economic Development (ED) Director Marc Saluk said that the private investment side of the equation is vital.
“The support of Old National Bank and the other investors gives the economic development office resources that it would never have if it were solely a public program,” explained Saluk. “It provides the tools it will take to attract and retain business and jobs, and provide for a prosperous future. Essentially, Old National, and our other supporters, set us and the county up for success in a way that hasn’t previously existed here”
According to Saluk, P4P has assisted the business community in the creation and retention of over 1,000 jobs to date, most of them well-paying positions in manufacturing. Additionally, the initiative has worked with Ohio to secure commitments of over $20 million in state incentives for the local business community.
