Versailles Bowling Updates

Lady Bowlers improve record to 2-1

On November 21 the Tiger Bowlers went to Coldwater, OH to bowl against the Celina Bulldogs in a close match. They came home with a loss 2129 to 2101. “Coldwater is always a tough place to bowl because the lanes are oiled in a pattern that is difficult,” said Coach Phlipot. Makenzie Berning bowled a high game of 171. Also contributing to the Tigers overall score were high games from Hannah Niekamp (157) and Olivia Berning (167).

The following week the Tigers went to Woodcrest Lanes in Union City to bowl against the Minster Wildcats. They were able to come home with a win 2182 to 1729. Morgan Heitkamp led the girls with a high game of 183; also commendable scores came from Makenzie Berning 180 and Hannah Niekamp 175. “The lanes were dry which causes more ball movement,” said Coach Phlipot. “The exposure to tough lanes is beneficial for the girls. We are still not bowling to our potential but continue to work hard in practice.”

High School Boys Bowlers Improve to 2-1

The boys High School bowling team traveled to Coldwater, OH on November 21 to bowl against the Wapakoneta Redskins. “Wapakoneta is a defending state champion team with 6 returning bowlers so we knew it would be a tough match,” said Coach Phlipot. The Tigers came home with their first season loss 2847 to 2386. High game bowlers this week were Brody Hyre (199), Alex Groff (191), Kyle Cotner (179), and Jacob Wening (171). Wapakoneta had 5 bowlers throwing above a 200 average making it very difficult to beat.

On November 28 the Tigers then traveled to Woodcrest Lanes in Union City to bowl against the Russia Raiders. “The lanes were very dry for the second shift so a lot of adjustments had to be made. Some bowlers were even throwing their spare ball for their first roll,” said Coach Phlipot. The boys were able to add on a second victory to their record winning 2287 to 1895. High game went to Luke Shellhaas (200). Also, bowling well for the Tigers were Alex Groff (180), Jacob Wening (167), and Brody Hyre (165). “We are still looking for a 5th teammate to step up and bowl a higher average. We need to start jiving together as a team in Bakers,” said Coach Phlipot. The Tigers take on Marion Local on December 12 in New Breman, OH.

Lady Reserve Bowlers Improve To 2-1

The reserve lady bowlers took the lanes Saturday November 21 at Pla Mor Lanes in Coldwater. The Lady Bowlers defeated Minster 1501-1453. Leading the way for the Tigers was  Jamee Brown 137.
The Reserve lady bowlers took the lanes on Saturday November 28th at Woodcrest Lanes in Union City. The Lady Tigers took on a very tough Coldwater team. The lady Tiger hung with Cavs most of the match but just did not have enough losing 1767-1617. Leading the way was Crystal Hartzell 177,Payton Bulcher 133 and Jamee Brown 127.

Next match will be December 12th against Russia.
