The Greenville Schools Foundation elected officers for 2016 during its regular meeting held Thursday, January 28, 2016. Elected for the year are:
Chair James Sommer
Vice Chair Nicole Pohlman
Secretary Mark Libert
Treasurer Susan Barker
The Foundation is a 501C3 nonprofit corporation founded in 1998 whose mission is to provide funds to students, alumni, faculty and employees of Greenville City Schools for the creation of, or participation in enrichment programs not available through other means. In 2015 the foundation awarded grants totaling $8706 to applicants from the school district’s various locations. Examples of items purchased or other uses of foundation grants are: purchase of a laptop computer, bus transportation for field trip, video camera for Wave Channel 5, replacement musical instruments, and attendance to State and Regional Business Professional Conference along with others. Much of the funding available to be used in this manner comes from fundraising efforts by the board of trustees throughout the year.
