Edison State Child Development Center to hold Preschool Open House

The Child Development Center at Edison State Community College will host a preschool open house event on Monday, March 14, from 6:30–7:30 p.m. in room 449 of the Piqua campus.

During the open house event, attendees will have the opportunity to meet with preschool teachers and assistants, tour facilities, and learn more about the preschool program.

The Child Development Center’s preschool program is a developmental program for children 3 to 5 years of age. Preschool classes are offered Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. or from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

During class, children participate in activities that support cognitive, physical, social, emotional, and creative development. Children are also involved in decision-making and problem solving in a print-rich environment that includes blocks, computers, dramatic play, and sensory centers.

Edison State’s Child Development Center holds accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Additionally, the Center recently received a Five-Star Step Up To Quality Award from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, the highest rating in Miami County.

The Preschool at Edison State is lead by director/teacher, Holly Olivieri. Mindy Caron and Anita Thomas are preschool teacher assistants. Additional teacher assistants are students who are currently enrolled in Edison State’s Early Childhood Education program.
