Pet Valu Holds Third Annual Come Clean for Cancer Fundraiser

The pet retailer has raised over $22,000 for the Animal Cancer Foundation since 2014

PHILADELPHIA (May 6, 2016) Pet Valu, a specialty retailer of premium pet food, treats, toys and accessories, will be donating all proceeds from its self-serve dog-wash stations to the Animal Cancer Foundation (ACF) on May 14-15. The fundraiser, Come Clean for Cancer, will be held at all Pet Valu locations across the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest that have dog-wash stations. ACF develops and supports research that advances the prevention and treatment of cancer for people and pets.

“We’re thrilled to have Pet Valu as a partner in pet cancer awareness and the funds they help raise are important to our cause,” said Barbara Cohen, Executive Director, Animal Cancer Foundation. “The money raised through Come Clean for Cancer helps ACF fulfill its mission to support comparative oncology research, uniting veterinary and human cancer researchers to find new, more effective treatments for both pets and people."

Since 2014, Pet Valu’s Come Clean for Cancer fundraiser has raised over $22,000 for ACF. Pet Valu is a proud sponsor of ACF and its comparative oncology approach to finding a cure.

“We hope to increase public awareness of pet cancer with our third annual Come Clean for Cancer fundraiser,” said Joe Dent, vice president and U.S. general manager for Pet Valu. “Cancer can play such an active role in our lives and it is important to be fully aware of this problem not only for us, but also for our pets.”

Pet Valu provides all the supplies needed at its self-serve dog-wash stations. Amenities at each station include shampoo, towel service, an apron, treats, professional high velocity dryers and an elevated tub with easy access steps. The self-serve dog washes are open during store hours. Each dog wash costs $10 with 100% of the proceeds going to ACF.
