Happy birthday America

On the 4th of July, it is traditional to display the American flag as a sign of pride for our country. But on this website, we're showing a painting of the men who signed the Declaration of Independence 233 years ago day. Without these courageous men, there would be no American flag.

While we spend our day watching parades and grilling out, stop for a moment to think about these men who put it all on the line for a concept - a mere idea - of what a free, independent America might be. Today, when we talk about "putting it all on the line," it usually has something to do with a millionaire athlete trying extra-hard for a touchdown, or something like that. But the men who signed the Declaration of Independence knew they may also be signing their own death warrants. And they did it anyway. Without their courage and resolve, we would not enjoy the freedoms we have today. It's just that simple.

  1. Agreed. That is why in our home we call it Independene Day, not the "4th". Every country has a "4th", but we can celebrate Independence Day due to these men, and thousands upon thousands of men and women who have protected it.

  2. An interesting fact, most of the delegates actually signed on August 2, 1776. Congress voted on July 2 to declare independence and on July 4 Congress approved the wording.
