  1. It is what happens when you tick off all the conferences in your area that would be an "ok" fit for your size school. I believe I read in the local rag that Greenville was working with some schools in Indiana to form a conferance that would get them some consistent teams to play. It would actually be a pretty good idea so long as they were schools the size of Greenville or larger because of how the OHSAA points system for the playoffs works. Beat an Indiana school that would be D1 in Ohio and get points for that schools wins under the premise that all the IN school's wins are against D1 schools, regardless of size. Kind of a loophole Greenville is in a position to exploit if they worked on it.

  2. It was so simple in the old days of the GMVC: Troy, Piqua, Sidney, Northmont, Trotwood, Tecumseh, Vandalia-Butler. Now that was a great league.

  3. What happened that caused Greenville to lose the GWOC ? Who was responsible ?

  4. We have the following leaders to thank for the current situation (some have since moved on):

    * Superintendent: Mark Weedy
    * Athletic Director: Scott Smith
    * High School Principal: Mike Shellabarger
    * School Board: Ray Donadio, Alex Warner, Larry Holmes, Cindy Scott, Eileen Litchfield

    Normally, it would be prudent to also place some blame on citizens for allowing such things to occur under their watch, but in this particular situation, it's kind of tough to do so. After all, the above people sat in public meetings with many people from the community who voiced their displeasure at the potential move.

    At the public meeting I attended (over 100 people were present) designed to present the potential move, not one person spoke up in favor of moving to a new conference. That is, except for the people in the above list.

  6. Having no league is nothing compared to the huge problems that are brewing in the school system--very disturbing. It's going to get ugly around here.

  7. Let's face it, the levy only passed by a slim margin because so few people voted. Couple that with the glut of misinformation thrust upon the community by the school board, faculty, students and Daily Advocate, and it is a miracle God hasn't struck down the entire school system with some horrid plague. Or is Greenville City Schools the plague of which I speak? Could be, quite potentially.

  8. What are these huge problems? What was the misinformation designed to hide in the system?

    Give us a taste of what's coming down the pike.

  9. I think the school administration has been great. I was well informed on the recent levy and thought the information was in no way misleading. Is there information that Im not aware of ?? I think the city schools have alot of potential with a little support from the citizens.

  10. I know that I have spoken with some teachers with GCS who told me not to believe what was in the newspaper because the POSITIVE stories about GCS were stretching the truth. At one point, I guess the Daily Advocate had written a story about how pay to play may have to come to Greenville aports and it would be (or insinuated it would be) the first time such a thing happened. Apparently pay to play was in Greenville for the better portion of a decade a short time ago. Then, even after they did pass a levy, pay to play stuck around just as a method to "build up the coffers" before being gradually phased out. If that is what the posters above are speaking of, I do not know.

  11. If I recall correctly they changed conferences to play smaller schools than they were playing in GWOC.
    That has turned out to be a horrible mistake IMHO.

  12. Why cant the GWOC let us back in now that Springfield has combined schools. Did we piss them off that much. It sounds like the community needs to get involved and start writing letters to the GWOC or even showing up to meetings. This sucks bein independant and I dont want to be in a conference with a bunch of Indiana Schools.
