Midmark announces retirement of James A. Eiting

Midmark Corporation announces the retirement of James "Jim" A. Eiting, chair of Midmark's Board of Directors and former chief executive officer. In addition, Midmark announced the appointment of board member David "Dave" C. Phillips as the new chair of Midmark's Board of Directors effective Sept. 16, 2009.

Eiting, who will remain on the board as chair emeritus, was the third generation of his family to hold a leadership position since the company was founded in 1915 as The Cummings Machine Company. He joined Midmark in 1956 and served as secretary to the board in 1960. He was promoted to general manager of Midmark in 1967 and president in 1969 when his father, Carl Eiting, retired after 43 years. During Jim Eiting's tenure as president, Midmark (then IE Industries) reached a crucial turning' point when he took the reins and led the team into the medical equipment market, producing power exam tables and selling them one at a time. Midmark now holds the leading market share position in medical exam and procedures tables as well as other key market share positions in the dental and veterinary industries.

On his retirement, Eiting said, "I am honored to have been given the privilege to lead Midmark for over 50 years. We have been fortunate and the credit goes to our teammates, our board, Dr. Anne Eiting Klamar and our loyal customers." Eiting continued, "As I leave Midmark as chair, I am proud to have been part of the Midmark team and will take with me many fond memories of the company and its people. And, as I hand over the reins to Dave Phillips, I am confident that Midmark will continue its success and growth under his guidance."
