We in Darke County have put a stop to the waste of billions of tax dollars, not only here but also perhaps worldwide, on CCS - a bizarre solution to a phantom problem that temporarily buries the essential nutrient for plant growth - carbon dioxide. Climatologists now agree that we have been in a decade of global cooling. This could be markedly intensified by a continued decrease in solar activity, like the Maunder period in the Dark Ages, or a major volcanic eruption like Mt. Pinatubo. Unlike the hypothesized catastrophic consequences of Anthropologic Global Warming (AGW) sensationalized by Al Gore, the result of these natural global cooling events has the potential of being apocalyptic, just as they have been throughout geologic history.
As the “Parable of the Talents” suggests, we should not only pray for help but also continue to work and fully utilize our energies and skills. AGW, although weakened by recent scientific facts and revelations of misdeeds by scientists, is still alive and well. Recently the President spent considerable time and effort negotiating for “climate change” measures with the wiser leaders of India and China who are resistant to this concept.
Perhaps Sunday would be a good time to contact our leaders requesting that they end this folly, pay attention to the cold and hungry poor, and pray for wisdom.

Thank you for such an intelligently written article. It was very thought provoking.
ReplyDelete" Climatologists now agree that we have been in a decade of global cooling. This could be markedly intensified by a continued decrease in solar activity"
ReplyDeleteWhat "Climatologists" are you referring to?
Global temps have not decreased in the last decade, they warmed, that is a fact.
As for the sunspots? they are increasing as we are entering another cycle, that is also a fact.
"Compared to September, October and November, which averaged between 11 and 14 sunspot days, December has had 22"
I can provide links if you like.

ReplyDeletePerhaps as a starter you should read “The CO2 Lie” from the IBD January 6, 2010 (http://www.investors.com/NewsAndAnalysis/Article.aspx?id=517128)
As for your Sunspots statement:

Are the readers to believe your un-referenced quote covering events of the briefest period of time over the opinion of NASA?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Regarding the statement “What climatologists are you referring to?”
First we quote the 31,000 scientists from the National Academy of Science that signed the Global Warming Petition stating “There is not convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide methane and other greenhouse gasses is causing or will cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate.” http://www.petitionproject.org/ 2008
Numerous references to global cooling over the last decade have appeared in the NY Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post and even the Dayton Daily News but the most damming evidence of all is contained in the email correspondence of the scientists at the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia who have been perplexed by the fact that recent cooling does not fit the predictions of their proprietary model that has never been openly peer-reviewed and therefore does not qualify as scientific evidence. (i.e. the IBD report The CO2 Lie).
Finally, in your response you bypass the most important consideration of the article: What are your thoughts about the millions of starving and cold people. President Obama, by his own pleas for support, has recognized the serious nature of this issue.
Winter kills: Excess Deaths in the Winter Months http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2406928/posts
108,500 Deaths in the US in 2008; 36,700 in England and Wales Last Winter; 5,600 in Canada (2006); 7,000 in Australia (1997-2006 Average); Thousands in Other Developed Countries

We will continue with our response as we have time available. In summary you are very much alone in your beliefs that are not even supported by the now discredited AGW proponents at the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia.

you might change your position.

I'll address this in stages, first off, there is no conclusive proof either way that Co2 contributes to global warming period, we have maybe 400 years of climate records out of 6.5 billion years, that is not enough to draw a certain conclusion regarding macro climate trends.
ReplyDeleteIn other words you can't prove Co2 doesn't contribute to climate change, nor can you prove otherwise, that is a fact.
As for your link to the IBD ? that takes me to this page, http://www.freedomszone.com/aggregator.php?id=60589
They quote a study from the University of Bristol in England?" hardly forerunners of climate research.

Did you even go and read the article from Marshall? apparently not.
There is NO mention of "NASA sunspot activity prediction indicates next decade coldest in over a century" anywhere on that NASA site.
What you are posting is no better than the lefts attempt to overhype global warming, your links and arguments are not based on sound science, rather they are based on hype and skewed facts.
Yea we stoped the ccs but there are more problems in darke county than just that like I dont no unemployment.or schools oh and lets not forget jobs.
ReplyDeleteIt seems the Reiers have made climate change there pet project, so I'll leave that to them. Although I do not think writing articles on news websites were with the exception of Andrew Michael there is little to no expertise in weather related topics is the most useful plan of action. If anything undermining the confidence of the public in elected officials, and the scientists they turn to helps to further devalue the US Dollar worsening our economic position internationally.
ReplyDeleteBut before I am accused of empty criticism, I have a plan that is related to the hunger side of this article. Now I know some of you won't agree, but its worth thinking about...
Unlike many places in the world, I can go into a US supermarket Wal-Mart for example, and purchase large quantities of whatever and even if I have depleted there stock, there will be more coming the next day. To put it simply there is an abundance of food, enough in fact that much is thrown out or destroyed as it passes its sell by date.
So, lets say the population of the US is reduced to 100 people (for the sake of working with percentages)
Now lets say that we are able to produce 150 loaves of bread each week.
And that to maintain a healthy weight we need 1 loaf of bread per week
The obesity rate in the US is about 33%, so we'll say that these people purchase 2 loaves per week.
This means that each week 133 loaves of bread are purchased, and that 17 loaves of bread are no longer fit to be sold in the store, assuming everyone bought at least one loaf of bread.
Now the starving/poverty rate in the US is about 12%. In this example 12 people.
We have the excess bread to feed them, there are 17 loaves left at the end of each week, enough to feed America's starving with 5 loaves extra.
But the problem is the cost of collecting this excess and distributing it to the needy.
If we were to place a proportional price increase on the final consumer...
It would hopefully encourage the obese to purchase less, bettering their health as they would only have one loaf, enough for a healthy weight. It would add to the surplus stock available for those starving, and those unable to afford the price increase.
It would enable the the purchase of the stocks that are thrown away keeping people related to food production (Farmers especially) in a better position.
It would create jobs. As the collection and distribution wouldn't magically happen. Most of those in poverty/starving are also unemployed so they would be helping themselves by doing this work.
Of course this is an over simplified example, as proper nutrition is more complex than a few loaves of bread, but it is worth thinking about, as it is the little changes that make a difference. For example packing lunch rather than eating fast food is a big money saver, or drinking water rather than coca-cola at home.
"Now the starving/poverty rate in the US is about 12%. In this example 12 people."
ReplyDeletePeople always talk about people in the US "Starving" but no mention is ever made in the media about that.
Can someone prove that people
are indeed "starving"? in the US?
I guess it depends on what you call "starving" no I dont think there are many cases of emaciated Americans, but malnourished, sure, lots of kids do not get the right levels of the essential vitamins and nutrients that are needed to develop properly...
ReplyDeleteBut even at that, once we take care of those in our nation we can begin to those in places such as east African nations where there are scores of the emaciated...
Personally I think we should be helping these people that are truly starving to death, but unfortunately until every American is receiving proper nutrition there will be massive out cry about helping those outside our boarders, even though we are all humans on this Earth.
Isn't it ironic that we can have such problems as people starving and obesity all in one great country?
ReplyDeleteNo more ironic than having unemployed and underemployed people when CEO's make an average of 450 times that of one of their workers.
ReplyDelete"If we were to place a proportional price increase on the final consumer..."
ReplyDeleteHere is the flaw in your arguement that followed that statement: Not only do you make the bread more expensive for obese but also for those previously struggling to afford it. Now a greater number of people will require charity. If less people buy the bread the bakery will produce less. So the end result is that there is no more "expired" bread to give away than there was before, but there would be more people that need it. Also, with the bakery selling less bread, they would likely have to cut jobs, creating even more people who need help.
Taxing those who have to pay for those who have not...that concept sounds so familiar...
How about we focus on building people up so they can purchase their own bread and don't need to rely on the government or anyone else?
That requires an "AMEM"!
