February is Career and Technical Education (CTE) month

In past decades, CTE, formerly known as “vocational education” was often considered the option for those students not planning to attend college, however in recent years CTE has changed drastically. CTE programs are now leading the way to prepare high school students with the workplace skills and the advanced academic knowledge to be successful in the 21st century workforce and post-secondary education. MVCTC has implemented many key reform initiatives in the past few years to allow high school juniors and seniors to receive advanced training, college level credit, and various scholarship opportunities. Initiatives such as, Dual Enrollment, Tech Prep, Apprenticeships, and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), are available for all MVCTC students, preparing them to be a valuable part of the 21st century workforce.

MVCTC Adult Education has also expanded their role and the educational opportunities offered the adult learner in the Miami Valley. This includes joining the University System of Ohio, expansion of the adult education facilities and adding programs for adults to receive the retraining necessary to get back in the workforce after layoffs and plant closures.

Over the next month, we will be sending you a variety of information about programs for high school and adult students at MVCTC, as well as success testimonials. We hope you will take this opportunity to share the value of CTE and MVCTC with your audience. We would also like to personally invite you to visit MVCTC, tour the facilities, speak with students from your area about their experiences at MVCTC, and learn more about our commitment to the communities we serve in the Miami Valley.

Please start the month by viewing a short video about MVCTC on our very own CTCtube, http://www.ctctube.com/watch.php?id=490. Also, please visit www.mvctc.com, to see the latest news about MVCTC students and programs.
