August 22, 2010 Lady Antebellum/Justin Moore Concert Sold Out

GREENVILLE OH – March 25, 2010. The Board of Directors for the Darke County Agricultural Society regrets that attempts to purchase tickets for the Lady Antebellum/Justin Moore concert by either telephone or internet were challenging. We began preparation for the March 20, 2010 ticket sale startup in early February. To process orders as quickly as possible for this event, the following actions were taken: An additional incoming phone line was added to the Fair Box Office; numerous on-line ticket purchase tests were performed; our on-line event was placed on the largest server available and we pre-arranged to have Tech Support on standby, for the start of this event, possessing all Office, pager and personal cellular phone numbers to ensure we could communicate with them quickly if the need arose. Once we were made aware there was an on-line purchasing lag, Tech Support was immediately called and they worked to correct the problem. Again, we sincerely apologize for this situation.

To compound the challenges listed above, the tickets we had placed “on hold” in the Box Office ticket software that were intended for Box Office sales beginning Saturday – March 27, were released and sold during the intense 2-hour sales session on March 20th due to a technical malfunction by the Box Office Ticket software program. This was nothing that was either planned or intentional by any means.

The 4,448 tickets sold on March 20th breakdown as follows:

We will continue our review regarding the challenges incurred during the sale of this event in order to establish modifications that need to be made moving forward.

  2. Good for the board for 'fessing up to the situation and not trying to sweep it under the rug. It looks like they were just as frustrated about the situation as everyone else was.

  3. I love how people complain about how the fair never has good concerts. When they do, everyone gets upset cause they can't get tickets

  4. Now the fairboard needs to announce that they will not be accepting tickets pawned off on E-bay or craigslist or whatever. Not that they could track it, but 6+ tickets per customer tells me there will be a LOT of tickets online for quite the hefty profit!

If they could find a way to cram another 1,000 people in there for standing room only or something, they'd certainly make some money off of it! This is going to be the best act they've had for a while, and likely WILL have for a while, too!

  5. It was very frustrating, I did get 5 tickets in the grandstands. I have always been on the track before. There will be new people come to the fair and buy one day passes, more money for the fair.

  8. It appears that the biggest issue was trying to actually pick your seats....after 9 attempts of re-entering the information to pick a seat...then it was all sold-out. Seems the 'best available' option would be less time consuming and more efficient.

  9. Why no limit on tickets? some bought twenty? they should limit each sale to six, that is pretty reasonable.

  10. I had friend buy my tickets because I had to work. So if there was a limit she would not have been able to get me tickets. Besides The Great Darke County fair has never sold out the grandstand for the concerts on Sunday. You all are a bunch of whiners. You have nothing better to do then complain.

  11. I see people talking about what they're listed for on ebay. How much have people actually been paying for them?

  12. it is not about whiners,it is about that i know for fact that some of the tickets were sold on fri.so if the board is going to be fair about selling the tickets. sell them on the day they are to be sold,so you tell me how did people got tickets on fri.so jeff did you get yours on fri.

  13. the board if they wanted to try and see if they can have two shows.cause the tickets would sell out easy.that would be the smart thing to do.

  14. I was told that fair board members could buy 10 tickets before they went on sale to the public. The fair board works hard so we can have a great fair. I see no problem with that. And no, I don't have a family member working on the fair board.
